Baghdad Messi

Based on the award winning short-film starring Anekdote co-founder Hayder Helo  with the same name (on YouTube here), the feature fiction Baghdad Messi develops the story of its hero. Hammoudi is a truly Baghdady boy, captain of his soccer group and a passionate FC Barcelona fan when he loses one leg in an explosion linked to an attack on a US military transport. Between his fathers guilt and his mothers suffering, he does everything to pursue his dream of becoming a football player, despite being displaced to Iraq’s country side.
